HINES WINS INDIANA MIDGET WEEK TITLE; CLAUSON TAKES KOKOMO FINALE

Kokomo, IN…….Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. is the 2008 Indiana Midget Week Champion after finishing second to Bryan Clauson in Sunday night’s finale at the Kokomo Speedway. Hines finished with 13 more points than Cole Whitt, while Brad Kuhn ended third in the IMW standings. Clauson led all but four laps in his Fastenal/K & N Filters Spike/Esslinger Ford to beat Hines, Jerry Coons, Jr., Cole Whitt and Levi Jones. Brad Sweet led four laps but faltered and finished 19th. Hines leads the Mopar National Midget Series points going into the August 23 “Hall of Fame Classic” event at Sun Prairie, Wisc. www.usacracing.com

What a week for Midget racing with Spike Cars claiming 7 Wins and 1 Championship. USAC Indiana Midget Week started Wednesday night at Gas City with Brad Kuhn taking the win in Billy & Tanya Mentgens Spike. Over at Belle Clair Illinois Brett Anderson was winning the POWRi Midget show in his families Spike. Friday Night at the Bloomington USAC race Davey Ray gave Don Fike a win in the RFMS Spike. Saturday gave Spike 3 wins, Brad Sweet in the Kasey Kahne Spike at Lawrenceburg, Kevin Ramey in Alvin Texas, and Matt Streeter at the Placerville California BCRA race. Sunday night continued with Bryan Clauson winning at Kokomo Speedway and Tracy Hines winning the overall USAC Midget Week Championship. www.spikechassis.com
